AddTimeCode

Adds timecode and frame-rate metadata.

Inputs: input.

Setting Default Range or choices What it does
start code 01:00:00:00 The timecode at the start frame.
fps 24 1 to 60 The frame rate the timecode counts at (rounded to whole frames), and the frame_rate written.
get fps from metadata on Use the input's input/frame_rate when it has one.
start frame 1 0 to 2000 The frame where the timecode is the start code (with use start frame on).
use start frame off Start at start frame instead of the input's first frame.
prefix input/ Where the metadata goes: timecode and frame_rate are written under this prefix.
custom prefix off Writes the metadata under the prefix below instead of input/.

Assert

Stops the render with a message when its expression is false; else passes the input through.

Inputs: input.

Setting Default Range or choices What it does
expression 1 0 to 1 An expression (or value): 0 stops the render.
message The error shown when it stops (empty: the expression is not true).

AudioRead

A sound (WAV, AIFF, MP3, AAC, FLAC, Ogg, or a movie's sound), played with the timeline and drawn in it. Connected to nothing.

Inputs: none (it makes its own picture).

Setting Default Range or choices What it does
file The sound file.
track 1 1 to 8 Which of the file's sound tracks (a movie may have several).
start 1 1 to 200 The frame the sound (from its 'in') plays at.
in 0 0 to 200 Frames cut from the sound's start.
out 0 0 to 200 The frame of the sound it stops at (0: its end).
gain 0 -24 to 12 Louder or softer, in decibels.
mute off Silences the sound in playback; its waveform stays in the timeline.
colour 1 0.31 0.31 1 0 to 1 Its waveform's colour in the timeline.

Backdrop

A coloured frame for organising nodes. Moving it moves the nodes inside. Produces no image.

Inputs: none (it makes its own picture).

Setting Default Range or choices What it does
label Title shown at the top of the backdrop.
colour 0.27 0.29 0.36 1 0 to 1 The backdrop's colour in the node editor.
width 400 50 to 2000 The backdrop's width in the node editor.
height 300 50 to 2000 The backdrop's height in the node editor.
font size 11 6 to 120 The title's size (Nuke's note_font_size; 11 is the usual size, a Nuke script's comes across).

Copy Metadata

Type name: CopyMetaData (scripts, MCP and Nuke import use it).

The Image input's pixels with metadata from the Meta input (and its own).

Inputs: Image, Meta.

Setting Default Range or choices What it does
merge mode Image+Meta Image+Meta, Meta only, Meta+Image, Image only Image+Meta: both, Meta's value where both have a key; Meta+Image: both, Image's value.
Meta filter Only Meta's keys containing this text (in the key, value or either).
Meta filter on keys and values keys and values, keys only, values only Where the Meta filter's text is looked for: the keys, the values, or either.
Image filter The same for the Image input's keys.
Image filter on keys and values keys and values, keys only, values only Where the Image filter's text is looked for: the keys, the values, or either.

DiskCache

Caches the branch above it on disk: it renders once per frame, then comes from the cache until something upstream changes, even after reopening the project.

Inputs: input.

No settings.

Dot

A routing point for tidying connections. Passes its input through.

Inputs: input (optional).

No settings.

Edit Metadata

Type name: ModifyMetaData (scripts, MCP and Nuke import use it).

Sets, removes or renames metadata keys; the pixels pass through.

Inputs: input.

Its settings are a table of edits, applied top to bottom: + adds a row, - deletes the selected ones, each change one undo step.

Column What it does
action set: gives the key the value (a number when it reads as one); remove: drops the key; rename: moves the key's value to the new key (ours: Nuke's has set and remove; a rename goes out to Nuke as a remove).
key The key, one word (shot/name); typing offers the input's keys.
value The value to set, or the new key for a rename.

Scripts and MCP set it as one line in the metadata parameter: set shot/name sh010; remove exr/owner; rename exr/capDate shot/date. View Metadata after it shows the result.

Nest

A group of nodes shown as one (like Nuke's Group, or Blender's node groups). Double-click to go inside; its inputs and outputs are the Nest Input and Nest Output nodes inside.

Inputs: input (optional); more as you connect them.

Setting Default Range or choices What it does
colour 0.3 0.36 0.45 1 0 to 1 The Nest node's colour in the node graph (asked for when it is made, like a Backdrop's).

Pass Through

Type name: NoOp (scripts, MCP and Nuke import use it).

Does nothing: passes its input through. A place for knobs other nodes link to (Nuke's NoOp).

Inputs: input (optional).

No settings.

Thumbnail

Type name: PostageStamp (scripts, MCP and Nuke import use it).

Shows its input as a thumbnail in the node graph; passes it through.

Inputs: input.

No settings.

Precomp

Another script's result (a .jos project or a Nuke .nk): what its Write receives. Reload after the script changes.

Inputs: none (it makes its own picture).

Setting Default Range or choices What it does
file The script: a .jos project or a Nuke .nk.
version 0 0 to 20 Nuke's version number (kept, not used yet).
reading off Nuke's: read the Write's rendered files instead (not built yet: the script is always computed).
on error error error, black, checkerboard, read input Without a Write to show: an error, or black (checkerboard and read input give black here).
output The Write shown, with 'use output'.
use output off Show the Write named in 'output' (else the last).

StickyNote

A note in the node editor. Produces no image.

Inputs: none (it makes its own picture).

Setting Default Range or choices What it does
text The note's text (several lines: \n).
colour 1 0.82 0.25 1 0 to 1 The note's colour in the node editor.
font size 11 6 to 72 The size of the note's text.
