MetaData nodes
View Metadata
Type name: ViewMetaData (scripts, MCP and Nuke import use it).
Passes its input through and lists its metadata at the current frame (key and value), as Nuke's.
Inputs: input.
| Setting | Default | Range or choices | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| search metadata for | Lists only the keys containing this text (case-sensitive; in the key, the value or either). Empty: every key. | ||
| within | keys and values | keys and values, keys only, values only | Where the search looks: the keys, the values, or either. |
The table under the settings (in Properties and in the node) shows every key of the input at the current frame, and follows the playhead: a movie's input/timecode changes frame by frame. Hover a long value (a Cryptomatte manifest, an MXF package id) to read it whole.
What the readers give
Every Read gives Nuke's input/ keys: input/filename, filesize, ctime, mtime, width, height, bitsperchannel ("8-bit fixed", "16-bit half float"...), frame (the file frame), filereader, and for clips frame_rate, pixel_aspect and timecode (this frame's). Then each kind of file adds its own, under the names Nuke 16 shows, so a script's [metadata ...] expressions find them:
- JPEG, TIFF, PNG, DPX (EXIF):
exif/0/for the camera's main entries (Make,Model,DateTime,Orientation,Artist,Copyright...),exif/2/for the shot (FocalLength,FNumber,ExposureTime,ISOSpeedRatings,LensModel,LensSerialNumber,DateTimeOriginal,WhiteBalance...),exif/3/GPS;input/focal_length,input/fnumber,input/exposure_timeandinput/header_ctimeas Nuke's JPEG reader adds them. Ours also:iptc/,xmp/, the camera's maker notes where OpenImageIO decodes them (canon/...), and the format's own (jpeg/subsampling). Fractions are numbers (exif/2/FocalLengthis 28; Nuke shows "28/1"). - OpenEXR: every header attribute as
exr/<name>(exr/owner,exr/capDate,exr/cryptomatte/<id>/manifest,exr/compressionName,exr/dataWindow...). - QuickTime, MP4, MKV, AVI (Nuke's mov64):
quicktime/codec_id(the fourcc,apch),quicktime/codec_name("Apple ProRes 422 HQ"),quicktime/encoder,quicktime/vendor_id,quicktime/nclc_matrix,nclc_primaries,nclc_transfer_function,stream/pixel_format, and the container's other tags (quicktime/creation_time...). - MXF (an ARRI ALEXA's, for example):
mxf/companyName,mxf/productName,mxf/versionString,mxf/materialtimecode,mxf/sourcetimecode,mxf/numTracks,mxf/duration, and per trackmxf/track<N>/(size, depth, subsampling, edit rate, package ids; sound tracks' sample rate and bits). ARRI's own per-frame camera metadata (lens, exposure index, white balance) isn't read: FFmpeg doesn't expose it (Nuke's MXF reader doesn't show it either). - Blackmagic RAW: the clip's and the frame's keys as
braw/<name>(braw/camera_type,braw/iso,braw/aperture,braw/focal_length,braw/white_balance_kelvin,braw/reel_name...).
Metadata passes through every node (the cache, tiles and proxy renders keep it). Edit Metadata changes it, Copy Metadata merges two inputs', and a Write puts it in the EXR's header by its metadata setting (and a movie's first input/timecode becomes its timecode track).
